Describe exactly what is visible
Record the time, displayed message, affected area, sounds, leaks and alarm state. Take a clear photograph where safe and note whether conditions are changing.
Add recent history
State recent maintenance, building work, power or water interruptions, freezing weather and previous similar faults. Identify who is on site and how access will be arranged.
Follow the site procedure
Use the emergency, fire-safety or isolation procedure provided for the system and contact the competent responsible party. Do not silence, isolate or dismantle life-safety equipment based on a generic webpage.
