How to compare sprinkler inspection and maintenance proposals
A practical framework for obtaining service quotations that describe the same job.

Give every provider the same starting record
Issue the same system information, location, known defects, previous report and access constraints to each provider. State whether the enquiry concerns fire protection or irrigation. If information is missing, ask what survey or verification is required rather than inviting an unsupported fixed-price assumption.
Turn a visit label into a task list
Ask which components and functions will be inspected or tested, what cannot be covered, and whether the proposal includes routine maintenance. Clarify access equipment, isolation, attendance by other trades and reinstatement. For life-safety systems, agree how urgent findings will be communicated during the visit.
Compare evidence and competence
Request the relevant experience and competence for the actual system and work. Ask what report, readings, photographs, defect priorities and completion evidence will be supplied. A certificate title alone does not explain the parts examined or the limitations encountered.
Close the loop on recommendations
Separate quoted remedial work from advisory recommendations and future monitoring. Identify who approves extra cost, who records changes and whether a return visit is needed. File the final report with the system history and make sure the responsible person receives urgent safety information.
